Recently, a tune on on a TV ad triggered a memory. However, it was very elusive. I knew it, it lurked in the shadows of my mind. Yet I could not recall it. Yesterday, I heard it again. I played it over and over in my mind, willing my mind to see where I first heard the music. I simply could not see it. I was going to give it up when I saw jigsaw puzzles. Why jigsaw puzzles, they come in a box and do not contain music. I tried some more and saw where I heard it. At a client’s house. The music was playing when I did jigsaw puzzle with her.
It is so interesting the way a song, a sound, scent can trigger memories we do not remember and have a hard time remembering. Lux soap triggered memories of the Carmelite Monastery. We use the cheapest soap on our skin, reserving the lux soap for use at the sacristy. The best for Jesus. Later, I did wonder about the practicality of that. I am sure Jesus would not mind if we wash his clothes, (priest’s vestment) with ordinary soap.
