There is a resident with supposedly severe dementia problem yet she is able to remember things from the day before and appears very aware. The sad thing is, everyone and his daughter included treat her like her mind is all gone. Her daughter handles all things and seldom tell her anything. I appear the only one operating with what she has left of her mind which to me is still a lot. For that reason, she is very close to me and appears to gain comfort talking to me. Sometimes I could say too much. I have learned how to control it and not say more than I should. Things her daughter does not want her to know, it is not in my place to tell her though I feel like saying, for heaven’s sake, get that ailment treated or we as carers suffer also.
