Recently, an acquaintance lent me three of her prized books. She was elated and told me those were her favorite most precious books. I looked at the titles, and felt very complimented she thought I could understand them. I was never good at science and science was not a subject I took. However, I knew even when a topic is hard, I would still be able to grasp something. At any rate, it would be a door opening for me. She opening a door to me.
I did not wait to start on them, quantum physics. I worked through them, grasping what it was about. What fascinated me more than the books was the fact she appreciated them so much. There must be something there. Some connection between quantum physics and spirituality. Science alone could not intrigue her so much. Unless her mind is scientifically bent. Mine is not.
Last night as I was driving to a client’s house, it came to me, the connection. Scientists thought they knew it all until the emergence of the new physics and it baffles them. I would not go into it. It would be too hard for me to go into them. What helped me was reading the book, The Tao of Physics. It compared quantum physics with Eastern mysticism. I understand Eastern mysticism. This in turn helps me understand the connection between the two.
As I was driving, it came to me so clearly, exposition of the connection between the two. Alas, I was drving, not able to capture it in writing and lost it. It will come back again and when it does I will write it down. It was so clear then, like a moment of awakening.
I drove to the client’s house. The client is 98 years old with a very alert aware mind. We were conversing. Searching for something new to discuss and still caught in that elation, I debated about sharing what came to my mind driving there and went for it. When she heard the term quantum physics, she laughed and told me it was not something she understood. A professor had gone into it when she was with the Sage society. She had read on it and decided she could not understand it. We still went into animated discussion on the topic, both of us knew as much or as little as the other. It was still most intriguing.
The scientists thought they knew it all. Things behaving a certain way, everything predictable till they experimented with the minutest of subatomic particles and found it was unpredictable. It was not a wave but particle, it could be a wave and particle. They were interconnected also, the photons, one behaving similarly to another which is far apart. This means time and space matters not. Not only that, an observer could change the outcome by observing it. Eastern mysticism knew long ago we are not separated but part of a whole. Both pointed to the fact there had to be an originator, whatever we call it. First Principle, supreme intelligence, God.
